Who needs it?
Staff who are required to carry out Lookout or Site Warden duties under the direction of a COSS. LKT cannot be held by candidates with a red triangle (which means the card holder must be accompanied) on their PTS card.
What do you learn?
This course covers the duties and responsibilities of a Lookout and Site Warden, including equipment, positions of safety, how to protect a group in a open line work or line blockage working. Protection of the line when it becomes unsafe.
What do you do?
A Lookout is required in a variety of working environments. The primary difference between a Lookout and a Site Warden is that while a Lookout will watch for approaching trains and sound a warning to the work group as necessary, a Site warden will be required to watch the work group and warn them if they stray outside the safe working area as defined by the COSS.
What do you need?
To be able to attend a LKT course you will need:
- A valid PTS track safety card
- A valid medical certificate to Railway Group Standards GH/RT8067
- A negative Alcohol & Drugs screening to GH/RT8070
- National Insurance number
